Hello everyone, welcome to the Homeoship today we are going to answer the most asked question on Google for BHMS, which is “What is the salary of a BHMS Doctor in India?”
First of all, we have tried to collect the information from multiple websites and multiple doctors online as well as offline, we also have also been interacting with some senior practitioners about it, who have served their past duties in hospitals, not only that thing we also have interacting with the Senior Lecturers and also the physicians who are serving as registered AYUSH Medical officers in the government sector, so that we can give you much more broad perspective answer.
After interacting with multiple physicians, we came to the conclusion of these answers but before giving the answer, we need to discuss something more important about the field of homoeopathy, choosing homoeopathy as a career should not be on the basis of what we are getting finically, but it should be selected on the basis of your dedication towards the field and towards the mankind.
The basic pay scale for a homoeopathic medical officer is quite contradictory, it differed from physician to physician, but broadly we can say it initially starts from the basic pay scale of 2 to 2.5 lakh per annum and it usually rises up to 6-12% per year depending upon experience and expertise of the service. After 10 to 12 years of experience, they are being the basic principle of 6 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum. To make it clearer, if you are a young budding homoeopathic (fresher) physician then you can expect a pay scale of 16000 to 25000 rupees per month as a medical officer. For more in-depth confirmation of salary at your current location you can use the ambition box for it
We know it is quite low considering the allopathic registered medical officers who are usually paid around twice for the same amount of experience and which is a quite disappointing thing, it is due to the lack of homoeopathic hospitals, there are very few hospitals that are dedicatedly serving as a homoeopathic hospital and majority of the hospital who are hiring homoeopathic medical officers are of Allopathic mode of treatment, so the basic pay scale is always inferior to the allopathic medical officer.
After interviewing multiple homoeopathic doctors who have served their job for more than 10 years in allopathic hospitals and their reviews convey to us that they are doing more kinds of paper-based work rather than going to on duty to look after the patient, it is much more like of management of the patient on paper rather than going on the field, which is quite disappointing for a homoeopathic doctor as you can’t give your homoeopathic medicine to the patient.
That is not just the end of homoeopathy there are also multiple job offerings by the Government of India under the factor of the Ayush department & certain private sector who are now dedicating hiring homoeopaths for the treatment method of homoeopathy, which is also giving the basic pay scale of 25,000 to 35,000 per month and when the Homeopathic physicians can actually perform the Homeopathic duties towards the patient and establish the Cure.
Exploring other career options than the medical officer, then there are three other options available, first is setting up your own Homeopathic Clinic and for that, you have the freedom to give the patient your own medications and it is one of the finest recommended by our side to select as a career as it has no limitation on financial gains. You can also read our other article about them
And another two options are Homeopathic Pharmacist & Homoeopathic Lecturer but both of them required additional education and you need to complete that for becoming eligible for them.
We are soon going to publish another post which is regarding what you should do after completing your BHMS. Stay tuned for that, Hopefully, you understand what we are trying to explain about the salary of BHMS doctors in India and if you have any kind of doubts or any other questions you can ask them in the comment box below.
