The requisite knowledge of disease is given in the 3rd aphorism. It describes the quality and the knowledge of a true physician of healing art. Master describes the Knowledge of the Physician & its quality which is very essential for a physician if he wants to treat the individual judicially and rationally.
If he doesn’t have this knowledge then he cannot provide the ideal cure and can’t fulfill his mission of restoring the sick to health. This aphorism comprises the fundamentals of homeopathy and its practices.
Dr. Hahnemann was the first to realize this because, at the time of Master Hahnemann, the physicians failed to know what type of knowledge they should possess to treat a diseased person. In Medicine of Experience, he wrote that the knowledge of the disease, medicine, and its employment constituted the healing art. He used the word judicial & rational which means to follow the law without doing any injustice to the patient. The method of cure should satisfy the patient. It should be based on the scientific method which is experimentally verified to treat judicially and rationally.
The following knowledge is required for a practitioner of healing art:
Knowledge of Disease
The disease is the disturbance in the state of health caused by dynamic influences of a Mobic agent which are inimical to life or health. The deceased force, first derange the dynamic force that governs the body and produces an alteration or an abnormal sensation and function of the body. The sign and the symptoms which are seen externally shows the internal disturbance of the governing force affects the body as a whole but if the physician tries to understand the disease by examination of the local path then he fails in his knowledge of the disease.
Therefore Dr. Hahnemann says that physicians don’t have to study the disease but they have to perceive the disease. Here “to perceive” means to completely observe and to know how disease comprehensively only scientific analysis of the disease is not sufficient for this, there is a certain aspect of disease which do not fit in the scientific or theoretical aspect search explanations are beyond the disease theories such aspect of the diseases which are observed by the physician then the complete knowledge of disease can be acquired with the help of all his senses.
The physician has to observe understand and study the differences for more Dr. Hahnemann says that the prescription of disease must not be general but the physician has to perceive every disease individually. if the physician tries to classify disease according to the nosological scheme then he definitely makes an error of ignoring the unique individual.
But, when the disease is classified according to the nosology then their general description is given but it does not give their peculiarity by which an individual is made up of general as well as particular qualities that belong to them only.
Therefore, the description of a sick individual is complete when all the generals, as well as the peculiar characters, are noted. The general symptoms are common to the group of patients suffering from the same disease while the peculiar symptoms lead to the individuality of the diseased person which is very most important for the knowledge of disease because if the patient is treated by the name of the disease then the individual factor is ignored.
The specific medicine is used for several sufferers of the same disease, but there is no disease existing by itself there is only the disease individual every individual has a different personality and its tendency power of tolerance likes dislikes thinking moral character intelligence, understanding, consultation, and adaptation to various external stimuli and therefore each must be studied separately.
Master anticipated that the physician had to learn from both reality & scientific theories. Therefore he required knowledge of disease because a man is such a complex being that he can be perceived only with the help of reasoning For more in-depth knowledge the physician has to mix common and uncommon symptoms and form the knowledge of the disease.
Dr. Hahnemann also says that the physician has to perceive “what is to be cured?” which means the physician has to judge between health and disease as well as he should know the clinical aspects of disease and individualization. Clinical aspects include the origin or the causative factor of the disease as described in an aphorism 5.
The causative factor of the disease is the exciting fundamental and maintaining cause. Further, the clinical aspects include signs and symptoms which are the only sources that make a physician know the presence of the disease, as well as the progress of the disease. Both common and uncommon symptoms help the physician in the diagnosis, prognosis & management of the patient as well as the individualization of disease.
The signs and symptoms contribute to the major part of the knowledge of the disease, which is required for the case taking, and finally by classification of disease. the classification of disease the nature of the disease can be known whether it is acute or chronic. This knowledge guides the physician in his perception and management of the disease.

Knowledge of Medicine
A truly proven and well-prepared drug that has the power to alter the state of health is called medicine. Dr. Hanemman observed the inner lantern power of drug substance, he noticed that a drug did not produce any strong symptoms but produced the disease condition is just as the natural disease.
So to call any substance medicine it should be ascertained what kind of morbid conditions it can produce as well as it can modify individuals from another individual by their variation.
In the same way, drugs are also individual and can produce an individual reaction in each living organism, and the total reaction is considered as the dynamic reaction of the drug substance. As the knowledge of the disease, the knowledge of drug action is also necessary for a physician. This clinical knowledge is based on observation and experience and just not on speculation, as we individualized different patients in the same way we individualized the different drug substances.
So the knowledge of medicine should not be indirectly derived from pathology but to be studied the action of the drug. The artificial diseases which are produced in the healthy prover must be studied. Master explains that drugs are active substances that can produce a cure of disease by the means of the same dynamic power of altering the state of health as well as deranging the vital force like a disease.
The drug can be produced abnormal sensations and sometimes even abnormal functions the alteration in the state of health is to be studied because it provides the most reliable knowledge regarding the morbid state that can be cured by a particular drug.
Nothing in this world can cure, no energy, no substance except the power of medicine which produces disease in a healthy person only can cure disease in a sick person. Therefore, Dr. Hahnemann states that the sick-making property of the drug is the only sick-curing property of that drug. Knowledge of the totality of clinical symptoms produced by a drug and a healthy individual gives us knowledge of medicine.
By the unique method of drug proving, the medicine curing properties are decided in the surest, perfect, and purest way. By this method, homeopathy brings the study of natural diseases which are caused by known or unknown causes and artificial diseases which are produced by the administration of the drug in healthy individuals at the same level. drug proving helps in ascertaining the curing properties of drug substances which forms knowledge of medicine. just as case-taking helps as in found in the knowledge of the disease.
